Chris Brown says he still loves Rihanna
UPDATE: Click Here To View A Priview of the interview.
R&B singer Chris Brown spoke exclusively with CNN about his arrest and sentence for assaulting Rihanna. You can watch the full interview on Larry King Live, Wednesday September 2nd at 9 p.m. ET.
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) — Pop star Chris Brown has admitted guilt and apologized for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in February, but he does not remember hitting the singer, he told CNN’s Larry King.
Looking at police reports about the incident makes him feel like he’s reading about a stranger, Brown said in his first television interview since the arrest.
“I’m in shock, because, first of all, that’s not who I am as a person, and that’s not who I promise I want to be,” he said in an exclusive interview that airs Wednesday night.
“I just don’t know what to think. I’m just like, wow,” Brown said. “It’s crazy to me.”
Brown, 20, said he still loves singer Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
But, he added, it is tough for him to look at the photo showing Rihanna’s battered face, the one image that might haunt and define him forever.
“When I look at it now, it’s just like, wow, like, I can’t believe that that actually happened,” Brown said.
He now has to keep his distance from Rihanna, because of a judge’s restraining order.
“We have to be like 10 yards away from each other,” Brown said.
The February argument began over an incident at a Beverly Hills party, according to Brown’s probation report.
An earlier, sworn statement by Los Angeles Police detective DeShon Andrews said the incident began when Rihanna found a text message on Brown’s cell phone from “a woman who Brown had a previous sexual relationship with.”
The pair argued while in a sports car driven by Brown, the police statement said.
It went on to describe the assault in great detail, saying Brown punched Rihanna — identified in the statement as Robyn F. — numerous times and put her in a head lock, restricting her breathing and causing her to start to lose consciousness.
Don’t Miss
He threatened to beat her and kill her, according to the statement, and he bit her ear and her fingers.
The detective said Brown sent a text message nine days later, apologizing.
Rihanna’s injuries included cuts and bruises inflicted by a large ring on Brown’s right hand, which he used to punch her, the probation report said.
Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault on June 22. A plea deal kept him out of jail. A second felony charge, making criminal threats, was dropped. He was sentenced to five years probation and six months of community labor.
“It means he walks the straight and narrow for five years,” said Mark Geragos, Brown’s attorney.
“I’ve grown to love this kid like a son or a nephew. I have a high degree of confidence — I’ll say it now so that you can play it back if he ever does anything — but a high degree of confidence that he’s not going to do anything like this in the future.”
Brown called the sentence fair and agreed that everything comes with consequences.
“They want me to pick up trash, remove graffiti,” he said. “I’m a hard worker, it’s something I’m willing to do.”
Why did it happen? How did it happen?
Those are questions Brown and his mother, Joyce Hawkins, have been asking.
“Chris has never, ever been a violent person, ever,” Hawkins said.
However, CNN obtained a probation report for Brown last week that said he and Rihanna were involved in at least two other domestic violence incidents before the February attack for which Brown was sentenced.
“The first incident occurred in Europe about three months before the present offense,” the report said.
“The victim [Rihanna] and the defendant [Brown] were involved in a verbal dispute and the victim [Rihanna] slapped the defendant [Brown]. He responded by shoving her into a wall.”
Another incident happened in January, three weeks before the Hollywood incident, when Brown and Rihanna were visiting her home country of Barbados, the report said.
“The defendant [Brown] and the victim [Rihanna] were visiting Barbados and were driving a Range Rover loaned to them by a local dealership,” the investigator wrote. “They had an argument inside the car. The defendant [Brown] exited and broke the front driver and passenger side windows of the car.”
Brown’s mother remembers being shocked and upset when he came to her after the attack in February and told her about it.
She said her husband was abusive — and Brown knew it. “I used to be scared to go to bed,” the pop star said.
Brown said he is not blaming that history for the attack on Rihanna. But, he added, nobody taught him how to control his emotions and anger.
Rihanna calls Brown’s mother “Mom.” The two have spoken and seen each other periodically since the incident. The court order that prevents her son from seeing Rihanna does not extend to Hawkins.
“I let her know that I was very, very baffled, what had happened and apologized for my son, along with I’m so sorry what happened to you,” Hawkins said.
“And I didn’t know what — I didn’t know what else to say, and I gave her a hug and she hugged me as well.” Hawkins started sobbing at this point in the interview.
The singer has not seen Rihanna for a couple of months, and said the separation has been difficult, especially when it comes to her dating others.
“I definitely would be affected by it, but at the end of the day, I mean, we’re not together, so if she’s happy, I’m cool.”
But they will always be friends, Brown said.
‘Changed Man’ Producer Battle Roy: ‘Chris Brown Is The Future Of R&B’
When a seemingly new song by Chris Brown entitled “Changed Man” hit the internet this week, many were quick to assume the song had to be about the infamous blow up he had with fellow singer and then-girlfriend Rihanna.
In the song, Chris makes a plea to his girl to right the wrongs he’s done under the scrutiny of the rest of the world. “What do you do when the truth isn’t quite enough/They looking at you telling you we need to break it up…Imma make it up to you and show the world I’m a changed man,” Brown sings in the piano-driven ballad.
A rep at Brown’s record label Jive Records went on record with MTV.com and Billboard, telling them the song was recorded “some time ago, a long time ago, actually,” and could not specify whether or not the song was created after the February incident.
The song’s producer, Battle Roy, told Neon Limelight in a phone interview on Friday (August 14) that the song was, in fact, written and recorded by Brown and songwriter Lonnie B, in March, just weeks after the Grammy morning brawl.
Although the subject matter and timing all point to “Changed Man” being a Rihanna make-up track, Roy — who’s worked with R&B stars Frankie J, Jahiem, and Kelly Rowland — couldn’t confirm if it were for sure. He did, however, tell us he had absolutely no problem with letting Brown use one of his tracks so soon after the public fall out began. “Good music is good music. Good artistry is good artistry,” he said. “You can’t block yourself off because of someone else’s situation.”
“I respect him as an artist, and I respect him as a person. So when the opportunity came about to do this and know that the song was being worked on by him, I jumped to it because he’s a great artist and he is the future of R&B no matter what anyone says.”
Roy says he does not know for certain if this song or any of the many others he’s done for Chris will land on his upcoming third album, Graffiti, but says if fans want it, they should make it known. “Hopefully the people will really speak up about it, and if they like it, the label will follow after the people and listen to what the fans are saying.”
He had just one request of fans who automatically write the song off: listen to it then make an opinion.
“People make mistakes. He has apologized and admitted to whatever happened,” he said. “People need to really move past it and get back to the music that everybody loves him for.
“If you’ve got an opinion of Chris then keep that as B, but A should be if you’re listening to the song, listen for the content matter and the music and see if it’s got a likable quality to you. If it doesn’t, then keep it moving and go to something else.”

Foreshadowing of Future Event?
This old video of Chris being interviewed by DJ Clue was recently rediscovered, I believe it may be from December. Around the 5 minute mark Chris is asked about his relationship with Rihanna, particularly about their arguments/fights. Chris gives an interesting answer stating, “We don’t be fighting like that…not yet.” He also says that he usually just laughs it off and walks away. Hmmm…what happened this time?

Chris Brown: 2009, Naked Fans and Old Ladies

Interesting article, make sure you read it in full.
IT’S BEEN A BANNER YEAR FOR CHRIS BROWN
“Chris is just coming out of the shower, so we’ll call you back in a couple of minutes.”
There’s no doubt that many young females (as well as older ones, as you’ll read below) would give anything to hear Chris Brown’s assistant say those words. Bursting out of Tappahannock, Va., three years ago as a wide-eyed newcomer, Brown has rapidly morphed into a pop and R&B tower of power with a screaming fan base to match.
Still riding high on the success of his 2007 set “Exclusive,” which has sold 1.9 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the singer/songwriter and dancer/actor is wrapping up a banner 2008. Not only did he snare two more Grammy Award nominations — best pop collaboration (with Jordin Sparks on “No Air”) and best male R&B vocal (“Take You Down”) — he emerges as Billboard’s top pop artist of the year. Brown chatted with Billboard about preparing his next album, what he’s learned and how much he truly appreciates all those screaming fans.
Q. Why does “Exclusive” have so much staying power?
A. Because of the potential of the songs on the album and the collaborations. When I was recording the album, there were certain people I wanted to work with. I got Kanye West to do “Down.” I also got to work with the Game, Lil Wayne and T-Pain. I had a great chance to do something in a different creative forum.
Q. The reissued version of the album includes the hit “Forever.” What was the inspiration for that?
A. I wasn’t even planning on doing “Forever” for the repackage; it was going to be on my next album. But then I decided I wasn’t ready to release a new album yet. So we gave the fans the rerelease with four new songs. The original inspiration for the song was to just make a dance record, a European kind of record that everybody all over the world could listen to. It turned out to be one of those big explosions.
Q. Care to reveal any potential collaborations you’re considering?
A. Right now, there’s really nothing in the works. I’m going to take it one step at a time. We just put out another single, “Superhuman,” with Keri Hilson. So we’re going to ride that out and let “Exclusive” die down. Then I’m going to go away for a little while so people won’t get tired of me [laughs]. After that I’ll come back and give them some bangers.
Q. Can we at least expect a duet from you and your girlfriend, Rihanna, on your next album?
A. Of course. I actually have a couple of songs written already that would be dope collaborations between me and her. And I’m writing for her new album now.

Brown is beautiful (Magic 89.9 Interview)

Mo Twister recently did an interview with Brown on his Magic 89.9 radio program and he gladly shares it with Funfare readers (through the courtesy of MTV Philippines).
Excerpts (slightly edited):
Mo Twister: First of all, I want to congratulate you on your great career. We love your songs Kiss, Kiss, No Air, With You and Say Goodbye. Your new one, Super Human, is doing great right now. Which one is your favorite?
Chris Brown: It’s kind of hard to choose which one because every song does sound different. I think it’s the new one. I guess every time I put up a new record it becomes my new favorite record so it is between Forever and the new song Super Human.
MT: Even four-year-olds are singing your songs.
CB: “Oh yeah, man! It’s incredible. I just like to inspire people with my music. I just love people feeling good about music and loving music so I’m good.”
MT: You’ve got muscles, you are dancing around and you are energetic. How difficult is it to be so energetic and singing at the level you do on stage?
CB: “For me, it’s more like having fun. Like, I think I’m still young, so I still do the normal teen stuff that you do. Eat junk food…all that stuff. I think when I get on stage, that’s my workout; and doing shows, that’s my workout. Playing basketball, you know what I’m saying? You want to do everything, that’s mainly my workout. I just have fun with it.” Continue reading “Brown is beautiful (Magic 89.9 Interview)”
