Fans & Radio Stations LOVE ‘i can transform ya’
Chris Brown is back on the radio with the track “I Can Transform Ya.” The Swizz Beatz-produced lead single from the singer’s yet-unscheduled new album, Graffiti, is the first official release from Brown since the February incident and premiered on Brown’s Web site this week.
The pounding robotic jam, featuring Lil Wayne, finds Weezy and Brown promising their ladies all the finest things they desire in an effort to transform them “into a starter.” How have radio programmers and fans reacted to the tune so far?
Greenville, South Carolina’s Hot 98.1 began playing the song as soon as it was available, and operations manager/ program director Steve Crumbley said the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive. “The audience loves it,” he said. “The response has been phenomenal, plus you have Lil Wayne on it, so you can’t miss.”
According to Crumbley, the recent unsavory headlines surrounding Brown don’t appear to have slowed his career. “You mean because of the Rihanna thing? I didn’t think not playing a man’s record had anything to do with what he did,” Crumbley said when asked whether he’d hesitated to spin the tune. “I’m not making light of abuse. That is terribly wrong and he had to deal with that, but if the man’s got a good song, he’s got a good song.” Crumbley said he’s had not a single negative call about the song so far.
Though Brown lost some lucrative endorsements and suffered some backlash at urban and pop radio following the revelation of the assault, there doesn’t appear to be a lingering effect on the radio so far. Cleveland’s WENZ (107.9 FM) music director Robin Simone said she also started playing the track as soon as it was available on Tuesday, and the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.
“People are loving the single, and they’re excited about the album,” she said. “With all that was happening to halt his career, a lot of fans called in and said they knew Chris wasn’t going anywhere.”
A few fan comments from MTV:
“Yessssssss, this is what I’ve been waiting for,” Tom-Iz commented. “Headbanger music in the urban scene is on the rise!!!”
“Luv the song & luv u Chris,” Sickballa012 wrote. “Haters keep it up. U R doing a great job.”

Chris Brown is smoother than ever on his new track, the uptempo “I Can Transform Ya,” featuring Lil Wayne and produced by Swizz Beatz.
“I Can Transform Ya,” previously known as “Transformer,” is the first official song Brown has released since his February altercation with then-girlfriend Rihanna and also the lead single from his forthcoming album, Graffiti. He premiered the song on his Web site, MechanicalDummy.com. Shortly after the song hit the Web, it was on the radio and one of the trending topics on Twitter.
Over a frenetic Swizz beat featuring pounding drums and a synthesized guitar riff, Brown sings about introducing a young lady to the high life.
“I can transform ya, I can transform ya/ Anything you want, I got it, I can get it for you/ You my baby girl, so you know I get it for you,” Brown sings on the hook, before Swizzy joins him for the latter half of the chorus. “Shoes, you got it/ Bags, you got it/ Cars, you got it/ Money, you got it/ I can transform ya, anything you want, I can get it for you.”

Swizz Beatz speaks on “Transformers”
The super-producer says he just finished a new single for Chris Brown called “Transformer,” and it features none other than Lil Wayne.
“He’s got something to prove,” Swizz says of working with Brown. “He worked on 60, 70 songs. He’s just on fire. I told him, ‘Listen, man, just stay focused on your music. They gonna throw shots at you. Time heals everything.’ He has great support; his mother is amazing. I was really scoping out the situation, it could have been something I didn’t want to be around, but I really got a great vibe. Honestly.”
Swizz says Wayne is in vintage Louisianimal form on the track, tearing the beat down like a bulldozer.
“The Wayne part is just nothing to talk about,” Swizz boasted. “He really showed his a– on this one. It’s probably the best feature verse since the ‘It’s Me [Bi---es]‘ remix. He really went in on the ‘Transformer’ joint.”
Swizz promises that a video will go into production soon and that the record will hit even sooner.

Chris Brown Graffiti Artist
RadarOnline.com has exclusively obtained these never-seen-before images of the R&B singer spray painting a wall — an act that is a misdemeanor crime in Los Angeles.
Brown was taking publicity shots by the Los Angeles River in downtown Los Angeles, which is close to his recording studio. Saggy-pant tagger Brown, who was accompanied by several friends, decided to spray paint a face and tag his nickname — “Breezy” — on the wall in an unplanned, against-the-law display of artistry.
‘Changed Man’ Producer Battle Roy: ‘Chris Brown Is The Future Of R&B’
When a seemingly new song by Chris Brown entitled “Changed Man” hit the internet this week, many were quick to assume the song had to be about the infamous blow up he had with fellow singer and then-girlfriend Rihanna.
In the song, Chris makes a plea to his girl to right the wrongs he’s done under the scrutiny of the rest of the world. “What do you do when the truth isn’t quite enough/They looking at you telling you we need to break it up…Imma make it up to you and show the world I’m a changed man,” Brown sings in the piano-driven ballad.
A rep at Brown’s record label Jive Records went on record with MTV.com and Billboard, telling them the song was recorded “some time ago, a long time ago, actually,” and could not specify whether or not the song was created after the February incident.
The song’s producer, Battle Roy, told Neon Limelight in a phone interview on Friday (August 14) that the song was, in fact, written and recorded by Brown and songwriter Lonnie B, in March, just weeks after the Grammy morning brawl.
Although the subject matter and timing all point to “Changed Man” being a Rihanna make-up track, Roy — who’s worked with R&B stars Frankie J, Jahiem, and Kelly Rowland — couldn’t confirm if it were for sure. He did, however, tell us he had absolutely no problem with letting Brown use one of his tracks so soon after the public fall out began. “Good music is good music. Good artistry is good artistry,” he said. “You can’t block yourself off because of someone else’s situation.”
“I respect him as an artist, and I respect him as a person. So when the opportunity came about to do this and know that the song was being worked on by him, I jumped to it because he’s a great artist and he is the future of R&B no matter what anyone says.”
Roy says he does not know for certain if this song or any of the many others he’s done for Chris will land on his upcoming third album, Graffiti, but says if fans want it, they should make it known. “Hopefully the people will really speak up about it, and if they like it, the label will follow after the people and listen to what the fans are saying.”
He had just one request of fans who automatically write the song off: listen to it then make an opinion.
“People make mistakes. He has apologized and admitted to whatever happened,” he said. “People need to really move past it and get back to the music that everybody loves him for.
“If you’ve got an opinion of Chris then keep that as B, but A should be if you’re listening to the song, listen for the content matter and the music and see if it’s got a likable quality to you. If it doesn’t, then keep it moving and go to something else.”

‘New’ Chris Brown Songs Are Actually Old Demos, Label Says
Late last month, Chris Brown posted a video online in which he said he’s working on a new album called Graffiti and planned to release a new single this summer — however, music is popping up sooner than he intended. Over the past few weeks, several Brown songs have been circulating on the Internet and late Tuesday night, his record company released a statement saying that the songs are not legitimate releases.
“Countering misleading reports of ‘new’ Chris Brown music: there are no ‘new’ songs from Chris Brown currently being promoted by Chris or his record label,” a representative for Jive Records said in a statement. “There are several old demos circulating that are being falsely promoted as new material from Chris.”
Two of the songs in question — “Not My Fault” and “Smash” — have been tagged with unfortunate titles, given Brown’s recent legal issues stemming from his alleged altercation with Rihanna. On Monday, Brown was sentenced to 180 days of community service and five years’ probation.
“Not My Fault” is an uptempo number that sounds like it could have been produced by the Neptunes — it even sounds like Pharrell Williams doing some ad-libs as the song ends. The record is about a young lady who falls to pieces after Brown shuns her. The woman in the song is so hurt that Brown sings about her mother calling him and saying her daughter won’t eat or sleep.
“Shorty is caught up, from a long night,” Brown sings. “She’s ready to fall, but see, it’s all right … That’s not my fault, right?”
On “Smash,” Brown is in full robotics mode and utilizes Auto-Tune, which Jay-Z slammed in his new track, “D.O.A.” “Guess who stepped in the room?” Brown sings on “Smash.” “It’s your Breezy, hit her with the Auto-Tune … I’m the kinda guy who don’t wanna follow rules, so come on baby girl, let’s break a few.” He also asks the girl he’s singing to if she wants to play with fire before telling her he knows her agenda. She doesn’t want his number, picture or autograph — she wants to “smash.” The song is obviously unfinished, as there’s no second verse.
“Uh Oh” is more of a dance record and finds Brown crooning, “There goes another one, shorty wanna rock with me … Shorty dip it low for me/ Let’s take it to the floor, show me what you got for me.”
And finally, a song called “Stronger” is a Mary J. Blige ballad that features Brown singing backing vocals. On it, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul sings, “I will survive as long as it’s you by my side/ I’m stronger.” A rep for Blige said the song was recorded before Brown’s incident with Rihanna in February; the rep said she was uncertain when and where the song would be released.
At press time, Brown’s next LP had no official release date.

Chris Brown — Bad Bad Choice
Hypothetical question: If you were a singer accused of beating your girlfriend to a pulp and your preliminary hearing was set for Monday … would your next release be a song called “Smash” ?????
By the way … Monday will be extremely interesting. Rihanna is set to take the stand and give the blow-by-blow.
The big question — will Chris Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, cross-examine Rihanna. As we reported, Rihanna was aggressive with Brown in the car, striking him repeatedly after seeing a text message on Brown’s phone from another woman.

Chris Brown Reunites With Hitmaking Producer Scott Storch
I told you about this in my previous post, but this pretty much confirms it.
____________________________________________________
Rumors that Chris Brown has been recording in Florida, after being spotted at numerous events over the last few weeks, are now confirmed. The embattled star, who will attend a preliminary hearing in his felony assault case next week, is back in the studio with the man that started it all — Scott Storch !
Storch, the man behind Brown’s debut single-turned-mega hit “Run It” is spending time with Brown in the Orlando area.
“He’s good. I’m working with him in Orlando on some stuff,” Storch told Khloe After Dark radio show.
While details are limited on Brown’s reunion with Storch, it is likely that the pair is cooking up something special for “Graffiti” — Brown’s third studio album.
Speaking on the effort during the last week of May, Brown offered: “New album, going to be coming soon… working on it right now… it’s called Graffiti”.
“Graffiti” is slated for release late 2009, with a single rumored to be released by fall.

The Runners To Produce Chris Brown’s New Album
Chris Brown will possibly get helping hands from Hip-Hop production duo, The Runners, for his new album. According to The Prophet, Chris and the Florida-based producers are currently hitting studio for an “amazing, insane record. Something you’ve never heard before.”
Chris Brown’s new album is tentatively titled “Graffiti”. It is aimed to follow up his 2007 sophomore set “Exclusive”. Its new single which is yet-to-be titled is expected to be unleashed this summer.
Previously, songwriter Robert Allen who is tapped to make contribution to Chris’ next installment said the R&B singer will be trying something different for his new record. “It’s not particularly just R & B,” Robert shared. Robert’s statement came up nearly two weeks after Chris was rumored to record a country music song.

Sidenote: It seems that Chris is teaming back up with producer Scott Storch. The hitmaking producer is in Miami working on Chris’ new album ‘Graffiti’ as well.
