Chris Brown depended on Auto-Tune (especially in the almost Euro-disco “Forever”) and choreography of a wilder kind. Unlike most of the other acts Mr. Brown’s didn’t use a full band: most of the time it was just Mr. Brown with a microphone, a drummer, one musician manning the digital backing tracks, and nine break dancers. The energy seemed uncentered, except when Rihanna came out to alternate verses with him on “Cinderella” (the remix of her song “Umbrella”) and “Live Your Life” (her new song with T. I.): Mr. Brown ran around her like a tetherball whipping around a post.

*dead* at him running around llike that

  • Yanda

he did seem to be more hype for the NY show and he was all over the place

  • Sharrod

i don’t like that review, it’s just something about it that don’t sound right to me.

and most singers NEED a band to make their performance more exciting, but Chris can make his performances exciting all by himself. and Chris is ALWAYS all over the place cuz he loves to put on a SHOW for his fans, unlike other artists who just stand there and walk around to stage and sing their song, which is BOOOORING.

Chris is the best performer on the PLANET, HANDS DOWN!

  • Sharrod

Dominique, u say this is a Chris Brown fansite and ur not a big fan of rihannas, but u sure as hell like to involve her in most of these CB updates. choose reviews that r NOT mentioning rihannas name. and put up preview pics without rihanna front and center of the pic (that jingle ball pic).

  • http://myspace.com/shellie93xx ~!Shelliie!~ @k@ ~!Mrs.Brown!~

ii tottally agree with sharrod!?!? chris always moves around during his performances!! :) and just because he was running all around riri doesn’t mean u should say *dead* that’s what performers do get over iit!?!? i love your performances chriis!?!?

  • Devin

LMAO @ the review! I applaud this New York Times journalist for his diction. It made me laugh. It’s funny because I could imagine Chris doing this and I am didn’t watch.

Doesn’t mean it was bad though. Hehe, the journalist just thought it was a little all over the place. Happens.

  • TiMa

Yea well I read his entire review of the performers & Ne-yo & Katy Perry got more accolades. He clearly didnt enjoy Chris’ performance. but he started off saying prob only 14yr old girls would so i knew it was downhill fm there.

lol, at Chris runnin around Rihanna bc he does stray away fm the professionalism lately & acts like a lil kid in a candy store & she’s that cherry now & later, lmao! maybe their performing 2gether 2 often & there4 gettin business mixed wit pleasure, lol. idk thats just a thought. but i do want them 2 find ano duet bc that umbrella/cinderella remis is so DEAD 4REAL! :p

  • jaisterrr

The review doesn’t sound that great, but I wish he wouldn’t perform with her at all. The Umbrella/Cinderella joint is played now (REALLY). It was cute in ’07. Not anymore. STOP IT! I would probably go to grab snacks or something when she got up there to perform with him. It takes away from the performances we KNOW he’s capable of. This guy made the show sound terrible though. SMH

  • goodtimesgoodtimes

when I said *dead* I meant it was funny … when you watch the performance he is literally jumping up and down and bouncing all over the place … it was like he was over hype … as much as i love his energy it was funny because he looked weird

  • Sharrod

would u “fans” STOP calling Chris a lil kid. u guys LOVE lookin at him in that light. Chris is WISE & MATURE beyond his years, but u guys still want to think of him as a kid. rihanna must be a kid to, cuz she’s only ONE year older than him. and what do u mean he’s “straying away from professionalism”, he’s a PERFORMER!!! he keeps the crowd up-beat by dancing and being hype, unlike rihanna who just stands there. and rihanna needs to show more professionalism by actually SINGING the song, instead of staring at Chris so much and having the crowd sing the song for her.

  • TiMa

Sharrod, what I said is he acts like a kid in a candy store. That is a metaphor. Wow, the last time I checked, this wasn’t a board or forum 4 debates, but a comment section where every1 can offer their opinion. Well anyway, thanks 4 sharing urs.

Singers ALWAYS perform their biggest hits. Umbrella will always be a part of HER show in some way for years to come. Chris still sings Gimme That and Run It and NO ONE seems to have a problem with him singing HIS hits.

It’s more of a case of YOU not wanting to see THEM sing together. Chris did look weird THIS TIME the way he was running all over the stage. Yes he always gives high energy performances but NY seemed different like he was toooo excited. I think he did a great job overall especially when he was on stage by himself.

I think he was a little happy to see his girl. She had just got back from London that day. I also peeped his mom and BC backstage also. His excitement showed in the performance.
Nothing wrong with that. His vocals were on point and he only using the autoban on Forever and Kiss Kiss.

    Check out this video backstage:

Sounds like the review writer is a Neyo fan. Chris does NOT depend on the Autotune. He uses it to ENHANCE his dance track “Forever”. BET.com has a better review of someone seeing Chris perform for the 1st time and said “the youngan HELD HIS OWN but lost his breath a few times but came through on the big notes.” He also has a few videos of the performances.

  • Sharrod

Chris is a HYPE performer, WHAT DO U EXPECT HIM TO DO ON STAGE?!? do u expect him to just walk around on stage??? it’s unlike Chris to just walk around on stage like other performers do. he loves to keep the crowd hype with his ENERGY. he’s a ENTERTAINER people! that’s what he do!

  • Sharrod

i don’t think he was just “super excited” to see his girl, she always overly excited to see HIM. Chris is just super excited to give his fans a GREAT SHOW. he keeps the crowd hype with his ENERGY.

man i swear, r yall CB fans, or r yall rihanna fans posing as CB fans, cuz yall NEVER seem to have anything to say about her. yall never nick-pick about HER performances. her performance skills need to improve. i saw 1 person that said they left her performance biggest how bad of a performer she is. she also said half the crowd left. rihanna isn’t EVEN in CB’s league in terms of performing.

  • Sharrod

he probably gave out of breathe cuz…..oh i don’t know…..because HE DANCES A LOT. he uses A LOT of energy during his shows.

  • Diamond

Chris shows way more affection than Rihanna. Hopping around all over the place is NOT hyping the crowd. He only did that when Rihanna was on stage with him and NOT when he was by himself.

I ALSO said he was excited to see HIS GIRL, HIS MOM, & old friends from the BREAKFAST CLUB.

This is a CB fansite. WHY should we have something to say about HER performance. That is taken care of by her fansite.

There’s nothing WRONG with being a fan of both. You don’t have to choose one artist or the other just because they are together.

Sounds like a Rihanna hater to me !

  • Dez

@ Sharrod YOU really need to grow up. Just because I told you what was WRITTEN about Chris doesn’t mean you need to explain anything to ME.

I HAVE BEEN TO PLENTY CHRIS BROWN CONCERTS SO I KNOW EXACTLY HOW HE PERFORMS !

You are NOT the expert on Chris Brown.
