Brown: My Lawyer Wouldn’t Let Me Plead Guilty
Chris Brown met with probation officials in late June, and he told them he was “ashamed and embarrassed” over the Rihanna beating.
In documents released today by the court, Brown met at the law office of his attorney, Mark Geragos. Brown’s mom and probation officers were also present.
During the meeting, Brown said he wanted to plead guilty immediately, but his attorney would not let him. Brown says he also wanted to undergo counseling before he started his probation but Geragos wouldn’t let him.
Brown said when he was growing up he saw violence in his own household and didn’t want to “carry on that cycle.”
Brown told the probation people he wanted to attend domestic violence counseling and wanted to “do it right.”
And there’s this… Brown says he has already apologized to Rihanna “on a few different occasions.” He added he was “uncertain” of the status of their relationship. Note, this interview was June 26, 2009, more than 4 months after the beating.

Chris and Rihanna — History of Violence
The court file in the Chris Brown case confirms the story we’ve told for months — that Rihanna complained this was not the first time there was violence in the relationship.
According to court docs, there were two previous incidents. The first occurred in Europe three months before the February 8 attack. Rihanna and Brown got into a verbal dispute and she slapped him. According to the report, he reacted by shoving her into a wall.
The second incident occurred approximately 3 weeks prior to the February attack. Brown and Rihanna were in Barbados and were driving a Range Rover. They argued, and Brown got out of the car, and allegedly broke the front driver and passenger side windows.

Chris Brown ‘Depressed’ Since the Attack
Chris Brown claims he’s been “depressed” ever since his February attack on Rihanna.
The statement was part of a probation report released after today’s sentencing, in which Brown was also quoted as saying he “does not want to carry on that cycle.”
Today, Brown was sentenced to 5 years probation and 180 days of community labor — probably won’t help with his depression issues.
