Hip-hop maestro and executive producer RZA has been quoted as stating that he wants R&B singer Chris Brown to portray “Leroy Brown,” aka “Bruce Leroy,” in the upcoming remake of THE LAST DRAGON. He is also hoping to cast fellow R&B star Rihanna.

RZA has already spoken to Brown and the singer has expressed his interest. “I holla’d at Chris and he seemed very interested,” said RZA while speaking to XXL. “I never—I didn’t holla at Rihanna. But I holla’d at Chris one day. You know we came across each other in the studio, and I saw him at one of those award shows, and I said, ‘I really got you at the top of the list to bring this character back’ and he said—that he actually loved the character. He said he loved Bruce Lee and he’s a fan of THE LAST DRAGON. I was like, wow, that’s cool cause there’s four of us that votes on it, but my vote is on him.”

The conversation took place before Brown was arrested and charged with felony assault against alleged victim and girlfriend Rihanna. Yet RZA told XXL that the controversy had not changed his mind.

“I’m still with it. Yea, I think it adds even more of a dynamic so he could do good on the screen. I’m one of those kinds of directors though. I’m one of those kind of people that loves to get dynamic.”

In the original LAST DRAGON, Taimak portrayed a New York martial artist on a mission to discover the final mastery of martial arts known as the glow. Through a journey of music, comedy and martial arts action, he battles evil martial arts master Sho’nuff and rescues a beautiful singer from a corrupt music promoter.

In a recent interview with Kung Fu Cinema, Taimak stated that he will be making an appearance in the remake. Samuel L. Jackson has already agreed to portray Sho’nuff.

The film is being produced by Kerry Gordy, son of Motown founder and original film producer Berry Gordy.

    Uhhh!!! What'd i tell yall!!! In the last post i said i heard he was going to be in it. And in case you've never seen "The Last Dragon", it's really good and it was made in 1985, so i hope Chris can pull it off. Can't wait!!! LOL! :)

    Chris is perfect for the role. He has that hint of shyness just like the leading man in the original movie, and the leading guy was really cute too, like Chris. Vanessa Williams (first black Ms. America) played the damsel in distress role. It's funny and entertaining and with Chris, it can only be 100 times better. I'm happy for him, hope he gets the part, and comes back bigger than ever.

      The damsel in distress role wasn't played by Vanessa Williams. It was played by the beautiful singer Vanity from the 80's group Vanity 6. Look her up or watch the original movie again. Vanity was the most beautiful women I've ever seen on Tv. Chris is a good pic, but I still think Leroy should be an unknown. Hollywood focuses so much on popularity today verses real actors and actresses like they used to. Also Corbin blue has the same shy personality & is cute. As for Laura Charles..was thinking more like Christina Milian, Laura London or Megan Good.

    i konw this is kinda off topic, but incase you didn't know, the whole BET award thing with Chris not nominated and performing (and not even being invited) was agreed upon. My mom told me that BET had actually contacted Chris and told him that they didn't think him being there would be the best idea since he was going to court and all. Chris's people understood and considered it. So, it's not really BET's fault and…i don't really think people need to keep on signing petitions because Breezy himself agreed to it. I'm just saying cuz i was really mad about it, but now i'm a little relieved.

    ooh guys, idk, I just watched the first 6 parts of the movie and it would really hurt Chris if he took the role.
    1. It’s a fight movie
    2. There’s a scene where a group of women are taunting the main character saying he wouldn’t hit a woman, then they hit him in the face and he almost hit back. (Now you know the haterz would have a field day with that.)
    3. The guy wants rihanna to play in the movie and she would just be a constant reminder of what happened between the two
    4.The sho’nuff guy hits the main character (chris)–I just don’t like that lol I would be sending unnecessary death threats to Samuel Jackson (Set to play sho’nuff) just because it looked like he hit Chris
    5. The haterz would note how ironic it is that the main character is so against hitting women

    So guys. I seriously doubt Chris will take this role because it would kill whatever progress he’s made up until the point it comes out. He has what? Four upcoming movies already? I don’t think he’s desperate for roles. Let’s just get him back on his feet so the incident can slide to the back of peoples’ minds.

    Ummmmmmmmmmm If its the Bruce lee movie, that the story was iludeing to… Then no it was not made in 1985, more like 1965, Bruce Lee dies shortly after makeing his movie.. unless they are referring to Jason Scott lee… Then again it doesnt sound like a good look for Chris right now!!!

    And oh yeah, apparently we were all right; Rihanna is the crazy-ass bitch who hit Chris with his cellphone–giving him a bloody nose, clawed him, and then decided to play victim for the past four months. Chris only back-handed her once in the mouth, and the two knots on her head came from hitting her head on the dashboard. And the only reason we didn't see his scratches in pictures is because his people covered them up with make-up beause of course, then everyone would be dogging for being beaten up by a girl.
