Progress has been made on a plea deal for Chris Brown, a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com exclusively.

Brown is facing two felony charges for his altercation with Rhianna. Cops say he brutally beat her in his car on Feb. 8.

Court action in the case resumes Wednesday when the parties will try to set a date for Brown’s preliminary hearing. He’s charged with assault likely to cause great bodily injury and making criminal threats.

Brown signed a waiver and is not expected to be in court Wednesday.

Meanwhile, one source close to the situation says progress has been made on plea deal talks. Even so, that source tells RadarOnline.com, there are still issues to be worked out and a deal is “close, but not imminent.”

The source says barring a last-minute breakthrough it is unlikely a deal will be announced Wednesday but both sides have moved closer together.

It is still uncertain what is preventing a deal from being closed by the District Attorney’s office and Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos.

If no deal is reached and the case progresses to the preliminary hearing stage, the case against Brown will be presented to a judge, and that certainly won’t be pretty for the singer. One photo that surfaced of Rihanna after the incident showed her face beaten badly.

if all parties involve want a plea deal and all this evidence has been leak ? whats with the LA DA?

    • http://www.intensedebate.com/people/Tima1 Tima1

@msgigi, their out 2 get Chris' blood & his 1st unborn child (lol), bcuz they goofed up & dont want 2 look bad. Lets face it, according 2 the media, Rihanna isn't pressing charges, they are & with their leaked, weak evidence.

Their probably looking 4 additional negative media 2 get more public outcry, which somehow I think has played out. The negative media moguls have moved on 2 crucify their next celebrity victim. NEXT!

      • amy

        unborn child..LOL.

  • Lotus

I just hope this all gets worked out and chris is free from all this so he can make an apology to his fans and we forgive him be he makes music and we go buy it. We meaning all the fans should shove it in the medias face. Chris your gonna be okay and we gots ur back.

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Tima1 Tima1

@Lotus, he made an apology already. He said that he wants 2 tell us more about what really happened, which I think most of us are looking 2 hear. After all his side of what happened has never been told or conveniently leaked by the LAPD.

      • brianna

i have a feeling when this shit is over chris will tell us everything that happened. and i also have a eeling that chris and rihanna are doing something right now to get them off the hook

        • brianna

          *feeling*

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/Tima1 Tima1

I actually 4got the purpose of the 4/29 court date, which is 2 determine a date 4 the preliminary hearing, ugh, some more time unless a plea agreement is reached. Somehow, I dont like the sound of that bcuz it inevitably makes Chris look guilty & he would just pleaing down the sentence.

If anything, Geragos may asking the D.A. 2 reduce the charges 2 misdemeanors 4 which the D.A.probably doesnt want 2 do bcuz it makes them look like jackasses 4 making the charges felonies in the 1st place!

I realize Chris signed a waiver that allows his atty 2 act on his behalf in his absence, but my personal feeling is, he should be involved directly with his own personal destiny, at all times. This isnt a career/business meeting, it's a part of his life that may not be recoverable. :|

    • Hula+Hey

WHy the hell he tryning to hide now. man up and defend yourself!!! if he was truely innocent and was strong about proven his innocense, he would go to court and face the judge, not have his attorney to do his dirty work for him..The hell he go to do…he aint got no work right now, plus if hes recording, he needs to worry about the present and not wat hit he is gonna try to pull out next year..

priorities arent straight..he need to man up

      • jOHNNY

WHAT THEY HELL HE GOT TO DO??? WHAT HE SOO BUSY FOR THAT HE CANT GO?? I AGREE HE NEEDS TO STOP HOPING TO FIND A HIT AND TRY TO WORK OUT HIS ISSUES THAT ARE HAPPENING NOW..STOP BULLSHITING AND STAND UP FOR YOURSELF…SHIT LIKE THIS MAKES HIM LOOK EVEN WORST….SMDH

  • ALEXIS

LOVE YOU CHRIS BROWN…YOUR NUMBER ONE…YOU WILL BE ALRIGHT…DONT MESS WITH CRAZY WOMEN..

  • Jai

Chris should definitely show his face in court tomorrow instead of having his attorney appear for him. I wish they would get all of this straightened out already!

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Tima1 Tima1

if no plea deal is reached, hang on bcuz this can be a long ride. When Chris pleaded Not guilty we knew this would be a long fight 4 his life as a NON FELON & it should. Anyone would fight, no matter how long it takes

      • http://intensedebate.com/people/musikfreak musikfreak

i hate all this waiting…i wish it could be over tomorrow. i kinda want his case to go to court just so the truth will come out and ppl will see how bad rihanna is and that she isnt little miss innocent.
but if his case going to court will bring jail time then i dont want it to happen. i just wish the best for him

  • becca

i think it will be very unlikely if chris doesnt get a plea deal. i just hope they make one soon so everyone can move on. good luck chris :D x

  • Lotus

    Tima1
I realize he made an apology one that his PR gave.
I just want to see him speak and hear it stright from the source. That’s all.

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Tima1 Tima1

@Lotus, O0K, thats whats up, lol. I'm just thinking 2 many apologies make him seem guilty. Most people took that 1st statement as an admission of guilt, when thats not what he was saying.

  • Tyler

I wish the best 4 chris and hope he comes out well in this situation. We all know what he did was wrong but all we as fans can do is help him through this by showing him support and love. In additon to, his birthday is coming up and i wish him a great birthday and i hope that by then he isn’t too worried about this whole situation because in my opinion he has stayed strong and has done well. Well done and Happy Birthday. ;)

And @ Tima1 by the way you talk you seem very intelligent and it looks like you know what you are talking about.

  • brianna

u know what gets me so mad, chris's endorsement deals are gone, only because rihanna's a celebrity. that shamwow guy did so much to that hooker she looked like she was beaten up by a gorilla or something and i still see him in commercials. they dont care for him too much because the hooker is not a celebrity. chris (didnt say he did it) if possibly did put his hands on her, didnt do as much. and all his deals are gone! that doesnt make sense! chris still has the fanbase, and the shamwow guy dosent. WOW how messed up is the world

  • brianna

Our sources say tomorrow's Chris Brown hearing will not end with a plea bargain, although we know both sides are deep in discussion. But it looks like Rihanna could score something big.

    Rihanna

Rihanna's lawyer is asking the judge to release the jewelry Rihanna was wearing when she was beaten. The jewelry was taken as evidence just after the beating and she wants it back — it was on loan from jewelers and they either want her to fork it over or pay $1.4 mil.

We're told the cops would like to return it as well. There are reports the D.A. is objecting to returning it —
reportedly for leverage so Rihanna will cooperate. But our sources say the D.A. has not taken a position.

Rihanna's lawyer and Brown's lawyer want to take photos of the jewelry and use them if the jewelry ever becomes evidence in a trial. But legally, her lawyer doesn't have authority to appear in Brown's case — in legalese her lawyer doesn't have "standing." So the judge could simply refuse to hear Rihanna's lawyer.

Will the judge release the hostage jewelry? Stay tuned! Hearing is tomorrow.

  • Nola

the reason why his "apology" wasnt taken seriously was because he didnt directly say anything involving the issue directly. he just said hes sorry for how things went down…any one who was concerned about alligations that were false about them was alll over the media would take that first apology and say something like "dont believe wat has been said"

there are plenty of ways of saying you didnt do something in other words then "im innocent" …he didnt say anything like that so many people believe there is a reason for that….

plus..defending yourself and being honest will never turn away a judge..as long as you have a valid argument…which hasnt been said yet, but hopefully would

  • JAYLEE

i am also tired of this crap she say he say bulls…i just want him to get over this and come back to his fans and say what went down..i will always be his fan regardless..time for us to move onwith a happy ending..

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/C_Jenae C_Jenae

    Me 2 girl!! Amen!!!

  • blueberry

Fingers crossed! I'm also tired of this…Maybe he finely say something, I hope.

  • Melonie

Figures. I new everything would work out just the way Chris & his people wanted it too, and Rihanna & her people as well, I guess. I'm really not surprised b/c celebrity's always get to have it there way NO MATTER WHAT THE CASE IS.

    • Tamra

Yea, Because they're RICH & FAMOUS.

  • Bubblez589

uuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I thought this was supposed to be settled TOMORROW! Jeez, it feels like it's been ages that this mess had been going on. I know Chris has to be tired of it…but then again, he never was into reading the gossip sites so…maybe it's just us.

But really, I'm just ready to see that smile, hear that voice, and relax about this situation for the first time in months. I want the truth to come out so we can wave it in the haterz' faces, 'cause I think most of us can understand that Chris DID NOT do even half of the things they said he did. And personally, I believe that whatever he DID do was out of self defense.

however, even if what was alleged is true, I'm still with him 'till the end cause that's our boy and we can't abandon him like that. We all know that deep down Chris is an amazing person with so much to offer the world. His music deserves to be played, his endorsements should definitely continue, and his album should go TRIPLE platinum. That's just the way I feel.

The music industry should not be about personal behavior, it should be about the music and the talent the artist has to offer it.

    • daannii

OMG I AGREE WITH YOU 110%

      • Para_

None of us on this site personally no him so judgeing his true character off of interviews and appearences isnt very valid but yea i do agree this has been dragged on for to long…less and less people truely care about it becuz of how long its taking the true to come out…

i think we will never no what happened, but him not going to court doesnt help his image at all. i think thats the least he can to do prove his innocence, im pretty sure hes not that busy to not attend.

i dont think it was self defense , personally, becuz usaully in self defense cases, the accuser- chris brown- would report injuries that he had from that night. He didnt report any injuries so trying to say it was self defense, looks like nonsense. And i thnk his lawyers no that, becuz they would have explain to the judge why the charges should be changed becuz it was an act of self defense…that didnt happen….

        • Unkele

@ Para…i agree, im also thinking it wasnt self defense either

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Calisfinest21 Calisfinest21

I agree..this shyt has been draggin on for too long..i want our CB back damnit!!!

  • Melonie

I don't think Chris nor Rihanna will ever explain to us or say anything about the incident period to us, ever.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/Calisfinest21 Calisfinest21

Chris is defintely in my prayers tonight..i hope everything works out for him tomorrow!

  • AngelEyes16

I Hope All This Stuff Ends Today So Everyone Will Move On With There Lives And Do What they Did Before.I Luv U Chris And I Am Prayin For U. Stay Strong And Keep Ur Head Up

  • http://chrisbrownweb.com chantal~cbe`

yea i hope evrything goes to a end todayy i amm praying right now i love u chris be safe and keep ya head up hope it all goes away

  • Rindy

People the D.A. wants Rihanna to testify because of what she said in the affidavit. The only thing is if she testifies she would be proven a liar. She also will be brought up on charges. Everyone would know that she was hitting him first. You do not have to have marks on you to prove someone was hitting you. All they have to do is prove that she was hitting him. It should go to trial because if they got so much evidence against him than show it. All they have is that photo and a car with a speck of blood. Its her word against his word on the statement "Im going to kill you". The picture itself proves that he did not punched her. The two knots on the forehead prove he did not punched her. She has a swollen lip. Their is no proof that he bit her at all. She lost conciousness so how did she get the keys out the ignition so quick. You do not come out of conciousness that quick period. The affidavit itself tells that they both were fighting. 1. Sitting on keys. 2. Refuse to get out of car the first time. 3. She was not calling for help period. Im telling you let them prove that this is a felony case. It is not; it is an assault/battery case in the misdeminor category.

    • Unkele

if this was all false and there wasnt enough evidence to bakc it up…HE WOULDNT HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH 2 FELONIES….

  • love cb

    Rindy,
Everything that you said is exactly right. I hope that the case is dismissed today, but I want the whole world to see that Rihanna told a bunch of lies. So many people owe Chris an apology.
