Usher issued a statement late Tuesday (March 3) apologizing for the comments he made toward Chris Brown, which appeared in a video posted by Jermaine Dupri.

“The comments made during a recent recording session amongst friends were taken out of context and blown out of proportion,” the statement reads. “I apologize on behalf of myself and my friends if anyone was offended. The intentions were not to pass judgment and we meant no harm. I respect and wish the best for all parties involved.”

The comments regarded pictures of Brown that emerged over the weekend, which showed him riding a jet ski during what was called his “reconciliation” weekend in Miami with girlfriend Rihanna.

In the video, Usher said that instead of riding around on a jet ski, the 19-year-old singer should “have a little bit of remorse” for the alleged incident. The comments in the clip, part of Dupri’s “Living the Life” series, were recorded on Monday, according to comments from Usher, who is shown huddled around a laptop discussing a series of photos with some other men in a recording studio.

“I’m a little disappointed in this photo,” Usher says about the shots of Brown, as singer/songwriter Johnta Austin bounces around the room and makes some off-color jokes about boxing. “After the other photo [of Rihanna's bruised face posted by TMZ last month]? C’mon, Chris. Have a little bit of remorse, man. The man’s on jet skis? Like, just relaxing in Miami?”

The comments were a rare moment of near-seriousness in the eight-minute video, which primarily features the three clowning in the studio with friends and talking about a recent photo of Christina Milian.

Brown is slated to face charges on Thursday for the alleged incident on February 8, in which he is reported to have battered Rihanna on a Los Angeles street.

          I clearly said that I support Chris, not his behavior. That means that Chris' personal life, if simply his personal life. If he starts doing drugs and drunk driving…that's up to him, He is a very, very talented young man who deserves support for his hard work. If we didn't, that would be like saying we shouldn't like Van Gogh and his work because he was crazy. Or not crediting and appreciating Leonardo Da Vinci for his numerous works of art and scientific discoveries all bcause he was supposedly gay. It's not right. And if Chris ever did murder anybody-which I consider extremely unlikely-then depending on the situation, I might, and I might not defend him.

Obviously, if he, Rihanna, and the people that love them can come together and talk calmly about what happened, then this situation has been blown out of proportion.     -The picture means nothing. Previously abused women, and other experts have said themselves that the picture looks like Chris had tried to defend himself. And if you think otherwise, I'd like to hear your explanation for the perfectly level bumps on her forehead, the ONE lip that was busted, and the NON-EXISTENT finger-marks on her neck that would have been there if she had been choked. Also, where is her makeup? Did you ever think her face might have been swollen from crying? And wouln't Chris, a full-grown, 6'2, 195 man be able to give Rihanna a black eye if he had really tried to hurt her?

      the reason I'm real pissed off is because I thought that man had some real talent, and 'missing you' was one of my absolute favorite songs of chris'…and now…i probably won't be able to listen to it the same way ever again. it just makes me so upset to see some of chris' supposed friend's turn their backs on him. i guess they reallyonly liked him because he could make them hit songs.

    It is highly, highly unlikely that Chris could have punched her on both sides of her head at equally level points, so that the bumps are almost symmetrcal on her face. And another thing; her bottom lip would not have been the only one bruised if chris had "socked her" in the mouth. Both would be swollen, bloody, and nearly ready to fall off. And the scratches on her faces, (adding onto the scuff marks in the car) clearly mean there was a struggle. and most often, people scratch others when fighting purley for self defense.
    So yes, Chris COULD be guilty, and he COULD be innocent. We will have no clue until tomorrow or the next day, or whenever they plan to let us know what happened. But just to let you know, whether he's guilty or innocent, I, and most of the people on this site will hae his back simply because we know he must have been pushed to s SEVERE breaking point in order to let this happen. We may not know him personally, but we know him well enough to understand that this is a one-time mistake that will never, ever happen again. Feel free to make another comment but I'm done.

    It depends on the situation. Perhaps he might have been trying to defend himself, maybe he DID want to leave, but the other person pushed him to a point where he felt he had no other choice. To me, that sounds highly relevant to this case-and that's if he's done much at all.

Rihanna is a relatively smart girl I believe, and she has money, fame, security, family, friends, and fans that love her all over he globe.
