Alicia Keys, Chris Brown and Lil Wayne lead this year’s American Music Award nominations. Each artist received at least three nominations including Artist of The Year.
Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the 2008 American Music Awards are slated to air Sunday, Nov. 23 (8:00 – 11:00pm ET/PT) honoring this year’s top recording stars.
Alicia Keys, who released “As I Am” last year, picked up five nominations including Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist Soul/R&B and Favorite Album Pop/Rock.
Not to far behind, R&B singer/actor Chris Brown earned three nominations including a nod for his Favorite Male Artist where he goes head to head with Usher and Kid Rock.
J. Holiday, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Jordin Sparks, Rihanna and The Dream were also nominated (see nominees list below)
For the second year, winners will be determined by online voting at amavote.com, the official voting location (votes will be collected from October 14 to November 7).
You are also able to vote for the T-Mobile “BreakthroughArtist” Award. The nominees for this special award are Colbie Caillat, FloRida, Jonas Brothers, Paramore and The-Dream.

While David Banner the rapper is going out on tour with Talib Kweli, David Banner the producer recently submitted new tracks to Lil Wayne and T.I. and is especially pleased with a song he made with “Get Like Me” co-star Chris Brown.
“With Chris Brown, we worked on a song called ‘Save Me,’ ” Banner recently said in L.A. “It’s wonderful. He was actually influenced by what happened during the hurricanes. It’s really a gospel song, to be honest with you. And for me to be able to influence Chris in that way, for him to want to take his career to a whole ‘nother level and really gamble in that direction, I was really, really impressed.”
I’m impressed too! Chris is really on his way to becoming an unstoppable force. Only true artists with longevity are willing to take risks. I applaud Chris for this effort and cannot wait for ‘Save Me’. David Banner is definitely one of my favorite producers, and I really respect him as a rapper and what he does for his community. More rappers should take a few pages from his book, and give back!

I like the hat he’s wearing. Definitely an upgrade from that sweaterless hood he was wearing in Scooter’s video. LOL! A very interesting fashion choice that was. Those pants are killer too. I see they were fallin’ off a bit. Saggin. Wonder what that spells backwards. =X! No comment. LOL! Overall, the outfit becomes murderous with the Nike Dunks. My FAVORITE shoes right now. I know I’m always rockin’ mine when I go out.

It’s a really long article that’s more business oriented, but I figured a few of you would read it. I know I didn’t read the whole thing. I read the part about Chris, which I have included in this post, and left it at that. If you want to read the entire article make sure you check out the source. One high-profile marketer in the celebrity branded-entertainment arena is Wrigley. ICM’s Goll pointed to the partnership between R&B artist Chris Brown, one of ICM’s clients, and Wrigley. He was commissioned by the company to weave the Doublemint jingle’s “Double your pleasure. Double your fun” into his new song, “Forever.” (It subsequently debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart last summer.) “That was a really fresh approach to branded entertainment [that] takes things to a whole new level,” said Goll. (The song also created controversy among fans that felt betrayed by Brown, who had not noted the commercial connection.)

It seems people just can’t keep their mouths closed when it comes to Chris, and Rihanna for this matter, these days. I’m one of them. =X…
Now some of the reporting is false, like the fact that Ne-Yo wrote Rihanna’s song “Umbrella”. Not true. Anyone with half a brain would know that The-Dream, the once husband of Nivea (whom I love so much), wrote the song — not Ne-Yo.
Anyway, here’s what UK trashtastic site TheSun is reporting :
NE-YO has revealed his best pal RIHANNA is head over heels in love with singer CHRIS BROWN.
Despite being snapped together on holiday, the pair have constantly dodged questions about their relationship.
However chatting to The Sun in an exclusive webchat, the RnB star – who penned Rihanna’s No.1 track Umbrella – admitted the relationship is serious.
He told me: “At first I did question whether it was real but I’m good friends with both of them and I know that they are in a genuine relationship.
“They pull each other’s hair out sometimes but then they kiss and make up. They are good together.”
The questionable article continues on with Ne-Yo confirming that both Chris and Rihanna are in a relationship, but are not heading for marriage anytime soon (duh):

I think I would know if they were! Ri and Chris are both really good friends of mine. I don’t think she knows that she shouldn’t wear a ring on that finger.
I have to be honest and say that when I first heard that they were together I didn’t think it was real.
Just months prior to them starting dating record companies were trying to put me with Rihanna to build up some controversy.
They’ve been trying to do it with me for years but I refuse to sell my soul.
But I’ve hung out with them so much that I know that it’s the real deal and they’re in a relationship.
They tear hair out of each other and argue.
I’ve seen them kiss and make up like other couples do. I’ve seen the ups and downs.
So, take it or leave it. Chris Brown and Rihanna are in some sort of relationship. Personally, I think it’s none of our business, but I guess that’s the price of fame. I think they’re handling very well, just as Beyonce and Jay-Z did — and we know how those two ended up! <3
