Thanks to votes from thousands of MTV viewers, Britney Spears netted her third nomination of this year’s VMAs (she’s scored two others in the Best Female and Best Pop Video categories) on Friday (August 15), but she faces some stiff competition for the awards’ most sought-after prize. The Jonas Brothers are also up for Video of the Year, for their “Burnin’ Up” clip, along with Chris Brown’s “Forever,” the Pussycat Dolls’ “When I Grow Up” and, in typical VMA fashion, a relative newcomer. The Ting Tings scored their first VMA nod for “Shut Up and Let Me Go.”

His categories are Best Male Video, Best Dancing In A Video, and Video of The Year.

Hope he wins all 3!

New Chris Brown music has been popping up on the Web — and the singer is not happy about it.

The 19-year-old is frustrated that fans have been listening to a song called “Electric Guitar” that’s supposed to be off his third album, due out next year.

“I’m mad that it’s leaked,” he told The Associated Press in a recent interview. “The record’s not finished. It’s supposed to be me and Rihanna’s duet.”

“Electric Guitar” would be yet another collaboration between Brown and his rumored girlfriend. He appeared on a remix to her smash hit “Umbrella” last year, and he’s listed as a co-writer on her latest No. 1 hit, the dance song “Disturbia.”

“It’s fun being creative and even if you have a concept in your head to write about, you can write it and give it to someone else because it might not personally fit you, but it might be an idea you have,” said Brown. “So with (Rihanna) that was an idea I had. I just wanted to go totally left and kind of weird, and that’s what I threw at her.”

Brown is still riding high off the success of his second album, “Exclusive,” released last year. It was rereleased in June with new material, including the song “Forever,” which is now No. 2 on the chart, a notch below Rihanna.

“Having the support of my fans on the second round was just incredible, and it’s even getting bigger now,” he said of his success.

He also said he’s working on a new reality show about break-dancing: “We’re going to do our thing and have a lot of fun.”

They still haven’t fessed up to being romantically involved, but Rihanna and Chris Brown are offering up every indication that love is certainly in the air.

The “Umbrella” songstress and her “Kiss Kiss” singing companion headed off for a short vacation in Rihanna’s homeland of Barbados following a stay in Los Angeles during the Teen Choice Awards.

The duo were spotted side-by-side at the island’s airport on Sunday (August 10), ready to fly back home for the upcoming work week.

Rihanna and Chris have been romantically linked for months now, but both have continually denied they are a couple – despite being spotted kissing and cuddling on multiple occasions, most recently in a hot tub at their shared Los Angeles hotel last week.

It would be great to see Chris in this category, but its up to you – the fans – to make sure he gets the nomination. You know the routine, go here and vote for either “Kiss Kiss,” “With You,” or “Forever.” Or vote all 3! The nominees will be announced on Friday (August 15). You have until Wednesday (August 13) to vote.

Also, congrats to Chris who scored another nomination at this years MTV VMAs (he is also up for Best Male Video). He is now a choice in the category for Best Dancing In A Video for “Forever.” He’s up against Danity Kane, Ne-Yo, Madonna, and the Pussycat Dolls. Hopefully he will be taking home a moonman for this one.

I received the below info from Chris Brown’s publicist:

Recently, unauthorized Chris Brown material was leaked online. Most of the unfinished songs were demos and reference tracks Brown and his production team were writing and producing for other artists. Brown’s record label, Jive Records is doing everything possible to prevent any further illegal distribution of these tracks.
